What's New

On January 1, 2009 The Quilter's Ranch moved! We are now at 1721 E Warner Rd #C-9 in Tempe. That's on the SW corner of McClintock and Warner. Following are photos of moving day. We've come a long way since then....come in and see!
When the movers saw the owl, they asked us if we were anticipating a pidgeon problem. They were assured that Woodrow isn't a work owl, he's just our friend. Don't worry, he survived the move and has been watching over us ever since!
Susan welcomes you to the Lady Bug Room!

The 2008 Grand Prize Winner of the Maricopa County Quilt Shop Association Shop Hop picked up her prize of a Bernina 230 Patchwork Edition at The Quilter's Ranch! Diane bought her winning ticket at Desert Flower Quilt Shop in Fountain Hills. Congratulatios!

Hooray!

One would think that the Ranch Hands have never seen food before! Birthday treats are always something to get excited about and no one has better employees to celebrate with than me! I'm off to do my civic duty as a juror tomorrow, so they surprised me with a party today instead! The employees got together and made me a grandma quilt that is SO cool!Remember the lady bug quilt from last year? Well, the grandma quilt is even more exciting. I'll have to take a picture later. Each square has a grandma saying that Jan printed and then transferred to fabric. There's even a label on the back! Now, all we need is the grandbaby...any day! Fingers crossed!
If they think I'll be hanging the quilt in the shop as a sample, let them be surprised! Thanks to all! Susan
If you've been around the shop much, you've probably heard me say that I was never interested in machine embroidery because I thought you could only do duckies on bibs. I fully admit I was wrong! Well, now thanks to Donna, I've got my very own ducky bibs now, all ready for baby spit! Thanks Donna...I never knew that duckies could be so cute!

New Grandma quilt made by The Quilter's Ranch staff!

In April, Joe Hesch presented a seminar on transferring images to fabric and we learned a lot! If you can dream it up and print it on paper, we learned you can also print it on fabric! The Quilter's Ranch is now carrying the products Joe recommended and more varieties of fabrics will be arriving soon.
One of our newest employees, Jan went home and used what she learned right away! Her mother is an artist and does wonderful water color renderings. Jan took a painting of a flower, transferred it to fabric and then quilted it into a journal cover. Then, to make it extra special, she made a photo label of her mother and adde text with the story of her mother's artistry! Sounds like a great class, right?
The class is now scheduled! Why not sign up today while you are thinking about it! It's called Captivating Covers and it's scheduled for Friday June 13th.

After the Joe Hesch seminar, I started to think about photos to fabric in a whole new light! There is a new book from C&T called 'Innovative Fabric Imagery for Quilts'. In there they recommend Adobe Photo Shop Elements. You can go to www.ctpub.com for a link for a 30 day trial offer from Adobe. It took awhile to load, but through trial and error (my usual way of learning software!), I came up with this Ginger picture page. Now it would be a snap to get it transfered into a poster or any other size. So much fun! Try it!

Donna didn't think she wanted a 730E Bernina UNTIL she tried one!
Now she has the machine she deserves and a tiara to prove it!
